Preaching Pastor
Arjun Gurung
Pastor Arjun Gurung was born in Chitwan, Nepal, in Hindu background where Christianity was not welcomed and most didn’t even talk about it suck religion. He had education in India while his father served in the Indian army (Gorkha Regiment). He did Diploma in Theology in 1986 and Bachelor degree-B.A. in 1989 in India.
In spite of all he had a great desire to know about Christianity. When he got the privilege to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ by one missionary in 1984 where he found the love of God and eternal plan for all human being. When he heard the Bible verse; John the gospel 3:16, This very verse changed his life and made him eager to know more about Jesus Christ, after a year he accepted Christ as his Savior and Lord at the Bible school and took water baptism in 1985, but during those days it was not allowed to preach gospel and share one’s faith in Christ because Nepal was the only Hindu Kingdom in the world. Therefore, many Christians were persecuted and put in jail.
After he finished his theology from India his parents did not allow him to stay with them moreover they told him,” you are no more our son, if you want to be called our son first forsakes the Christianity”. During that time I had a great challenge to show the love of God to my parents in spite of their hatred. He ordained as a pastor on 15th June 2000 in Nepal and worked for several ministries in Nepal for about 22 years. Pastor Arjun got married with wife Irish in 1988 and they have four grown children, three girls and one son, Abegail, stephen, Rebecca and Jyoti.
